Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance 5,000th Callout
Scotland Charity Air Ambulance, June 30, 2023 - Since our launch in 2013, Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance has now responded to over 5,000 call outs across Scotland.

Over the past 10 years, SCAA has played a significant role in strengthening Scotland's emergency response network, and with your support, we'll continue to help people when they need help the most. Here are just a few of the call outs we've responded to recently.

An infant was recently airlifted to hospital by SCAA after taking unwell on the Moray coast. The little boy was flown to advanced hospital care at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital in under 20 minutes - a journey that would have taken over an hour by road. The youngster’s mother accompanied her son on the flight and a SCAA teddy was deployed as a comfort gift for the young patient.

When a man suffered a heart attack on a remote part of Arran, SCAA's air ambulance was called to get the patient to hospital in the quickest possible time. Our air ambulance flew to meet a land ambulance in a field on the west coast of the island, before airlifting the patient to critical care at the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank.

SCAA recently responded to a medical emergency in Oban, airlifting a patient for specialist care at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow in under half an hour.

Cross-border emergency services all worked together when a motorcyclist was injured in a serious accident near Newcastleton recently. SCAA worked alongside colleagues from the Scottish Ambulance Service, Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service and Police Scotland at the scene before the motorcyclist was airlifted to emergency trauma care at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh - just a 20-minute flight away.

A tourist required SCAA’s help after falling and injuring herself near the summit of Conic Hill while tackling the West Highland Way. SCAA landed close to the patient, who had suffered ankle injuries, and airlifted her to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow - just a seven-minute flight away from the remote hillside.
