CBP, April 06, 2019 - WASHINGTON – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Air and Marine Operations’ (AMO) Tactical Aircraft and Vessel Acquisitions Team is being recognized by the General Services Administration (GSA) for their work in procuring seven H125 Light Enforcement Helicopters off a GSA schedule.
GSA Regional Commissioner, George Prochaska, of Southwest Region 7 will formally recognize the team Tuesday, April 2, for utilizing GSA’s schedule 84.
"AMO understands the benefits of working with small businesses to protect our Nation. AMO partnered with Davenport Aviation Inc., a Woman-Owned Small Business, to purchase seven Light Enforcement Helicopters for approximately $46 million. Notably, AMOs collaboration with Davenport will deliver increased law enforcement capability to CBP, with these state of the art helicopters,” said Director, Tactical Aircraft and Vessel Acquisitions, John Wells.
Additionally, since Davenport Aviation Inc. is a HUBzone certified small business, the contract award nearly doubled CBP’s HUBzone activity from 2.7 percent to 5.36 percent.
“This award goes beyond helping individual small business owners. It enriches the community, provides a springboard for further growth and economic opportunity, as well as raises the standard of living for people, said Wells. The purchase is a substantial share of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) $482 million in award funding and has helped DHS surpass its 3 percent goal for Fiscal Year 2018."

Today, AMO has approximately 1,660 federal employees, including 1,200 federal agents, 240 aircraft, and 300 marine vessels operating throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands. In Fiscal Year 2018, AMO enforcement actions resulted in the approximate seizure or disruption of 283,503 pounds of cocaine; 301,553 pounds of marijuana; 180,444 pounds of methamphetamine; 872 weapons and $34.2 million; 2,373 arrests and 47,744 apprehensions of illegal aliens.
