Following a massacre of Palestinian refugees, a multi-national force was sent to Lebanon. The UK sent 3 Chinooks from a mixed 7 Sq and 240 OCU team to Akrotiri in Sep 1983 (and a Buccaneer force) under Operation Pulsator, which here, is not distinguished from Offcut operations. After a series of suicide bombings between mid Oct and early Nov 1983, Britain mounted Operation Offcut to protect its peacekeepers (the BRITFORLEB deployment) and nationals in Lebanon, as part of a wider Multi-National Force (with US, UK, French & Italian components).
