Formed as 671 Sq RAF and joined 343 Wing in Basal, India on 1 Jan 1945 initially training for glider assault operations against the Japanese. It disbanded in Oct 1945, with personnel transferring to 670 Sqd.

Disbanded after 70 years in a ceremony at Middle Wallop, into a Conversion Flight.
