720 squadron

The 720 squadron was established at Gardermoen 1 april 1967. This was a result of merger of 7190 support wing at Rygge 7191 support wing at Sola and 7192 support wing at Ørland. In the beginning 720 sqn. Operated 6 Bell 47,3 Bell UH-1B          1 DHC-3 Otter and 4 SAAB Safir. In 1976 the 720 squadron moved to Rygge airbase where it is still today. In the periode between 1967 to 1990 720 sqn. operated 16 different UH-1B. Today the 720 sqn. operates 6 Bell 412SP.
Summer 2014 the 720 squadron was disbanded. The Bell 412 helicopters at Rygge were transferred to 339 squadron.
