1958/1959 - Marine Helicopter Transport Squadron 463 (HMR-463)

On 09 Sep 66 became the first unit to receive the new S-65 (CH-53A) and is redesignated Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 (HMH-463)

On 1969 they received the more powerful CH-53D variant

On September 2011, the squadron transitioned to the CH-53E Super Stallion
Deployed to Marble Mountain, South Vietnam with 22 CH-53A on 22 May 1967.
During the evacuation of Saigon (Apr 1975), unit call sign was Pineapple.
20 NOV 1968, Operation Meade River, I believe I have 4 out of 7 of the CH-53A from HMH-463 that flew that morning. BuNo 153292 /YH-2, BuNo 153309 /YH-4, BuNo 153715 /YH-12A BuNo 153293 /YH-22. YH-22 was the aircraft I was assigned to and flew as a gunner. Mike
