JTF-Afg AW Canadian Armed Forces

Following the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 1368 condemning the attacks and supporting international efforts to root out terrorism in Afghanistan. On October 7, 2001, the United States and the United Kingdom launch Operation Enduring Freedom to dismantle the Al-Qaeda terrorist network in Afghanistan and to remove the Taliban regime from power. On the same day, Canada announced its contribution with air, land and sea forces to the international campaign against terrorism. Operation APOLLO, the CAF contribution to the campaign, officially began, marking Canada's entry in the international mission.

RCAF Chinook Female Pilot Recognition, 30-Jul-19 : #WomenPilot The Northern Lights Aero Foundation honor Canadian women who have made outstanding contributions to aviation and aerospace. One of 2019 award recipients is Major Alexia Hannam, a Royal Candian Air Force (RCAF) pilot who flew the Chinook helicopter in Afghanistan

Canadian CH-147D Chinooks to Museums, 06-Dec-16 : The two remaining RCAF CH-147 D-model Chinook in Canadian inventory have been delivered to museums in Trenton and Petawawa, Ontario. Other two were sold and two were lost in Afghanistan.

Canadian CH-146 Griffons arrive in Afghanistan, 22-Dec-08 : KABUL, Afghanistan by ISAF - Six Canadian Griffon helicopters landed at the Kandahar Air Field via C-17 Globemaster III aircraft, Dec. 20. The Griffons are the first Canadian helicopters to arrive at the Canadian Air Wing in Afghanistan.
