History Tracking
The air ambulance service operating under the call sign Christoph Hansa (officially designated Christoph 50) is a helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) based at the BG Klinikum Hamburg in the Boberg district of Hamburg, Germany. Operated by ADAC Luftrettung since 1990, the service provides both primary emergency response missions and secondary inter-hospital intensive care transports throughout the Hamburg metropolitan area and northern Germany. Its strategic location enables rapid access to densely populated urban districts as well as surrounding regions where specialized medical facilities may be located at greater distances.

The station operates an Airbus H145 configured as a flying intensive care unit, staffed by a pilot, emergency physician, and HEMS crew member. The aircraft is equipped to provide advanced prehospital medical treatment and critical care transport, allowing patients to receive continuous medical support while en route to specialized trauma, cardiac, neurological, and surgical centers. By avoiding road congestion and significantly reducing transfer times, Christoph Hansa plays an important role in the emergency medical infrastructure of northern Germany.
