Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 162

The Golden Eagles, tail code YS, were activated as Marine Helicopter Transport Squadron 162 (HMR-162) on June 30, 1951. On January 1st, 1957 redesignated as Marine Helicopter Squadron-Light (HMR/L)-162 and in 1962 Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 162 (HMM-162). On 2006 with the transition to the MV-22 Osprey became VMM-162

HMM-162 deployed to Da Nang, South Vietnam on 9 Mar 1965, joining HMM-163 as part of MAG-16.
