This was the second unit to be commissioned with Sea Kings on 9 Dec 1974 at Kochi (Cochin). Expanded its role to include advanced training with the Sea King Flight and Tactical Simulator from Jul 1979. Its operational ASW duties were relinquished in Dec 1994 when it became a training only unit.
First Indian Navy MH-60R Seahawk Naval Air Squadron commissioned in Kochi, Kerala, in March 2024.
