Established November 1993, when Schumpert’s Life Air 1 and Willis-Knighton’s Air Rescue merged to provide air medical service for the Ark-La-Tex area ( the region where Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma states intersect ) . In 1996 Life Air Rescue received CAMTS accreditation.
In 2009 Med-Trans and Metro Aviation formed an industry first partnership to take over the operations of Life Air Rescue.
As of 2025, Life Air Rescue transported an average of 600 patients per year. Based in Shreveport and Winnfield under a partnership between Acadian Air Med and Metro Aviation.
