Merlin Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Police German Local Police
The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern-Polizei (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Police) has police helicopter squadron stationed at Rostock-Laage Airport. They are also part of the Wasserschutzpolizei (Water Protection Police) a specialized branch of law enforcement responsible for policing waterways, coastal areas, harbors, and sometimes large lakes and rivers. They use two helicopters which have the callsigns Merlin 1 and Merlin 2.
The state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, along with Lower Saxony, have ordered new Airbus H145D3 helicopters to modernize their fleet.
