Minas Gerais state military police Brazilian Military Police
The Minas Gerais State Military Police (Polícia Militar de Minas Gerais - PMMG) operates a specialized airborne unit known as Batalhão de Radiopatrulhamento Aéreo (Btl RPAer), popularly known as Esquadrilha Pégasus, responsible for providing rapid response, surveillance, and support across the vast and varied geography of the Brazilian state.
PMMG began using helicopters in 1987, recognizing the need for aerial support in law enforcement, search and rescue, and medical evacuations.
The firefighters (Corpo de Bombeiros Militar de Minas Gerais - CBMMG) are a separate institution from the Military Police (PMMG), although both are part of the public security system of the state and often work together closely—especially in air operations.
