Nov 1971 Deployment the last vessel of RN to deploy for 12 months to the far east. Was plane guard for HMS Eagle to cover withdrawal from the Arabian Gulf 1971. Spent Christmas 1971 at Mombasa. Oversaw the handover of Singapore dockyard to the Sambawang shipping company, HMS Terror (Royal Navy barracks) was renamed for the ANZUK handover.
Sep 17, 1974 Deployment departed HMNB Devonport to join Task Group 317.2 for Far East deployment, joining with HMS Achilles, HMS Diomede, HMS Falmouth, HMS Leander, HMS Lowestoft, RFA Green Rover, RFA Olna and RFA Stromness, returned Jun 1975.
Oct 14, 1974 Port Visit ZA Simon Town Naval Dockyard Visited Simonstown en route Far East deployment, in company with other ships from Task Group 317.2, until 21 Oct.
Nov 1974 Deployment HK Victoria Harbour developed a serious fire amidships in Indian Ocean while on Task Group 317.2 deployment and made Hong Kong for extensive repairs, under her own steam.

Dec 1978 Aircraft allocated 829 NAS Wasp HAS.1 XV639 as /441 Falmouth Flt until c Mar 1980. Although other Wasps continued to be allocated to other Ships Flts, this was the last ship allocation, of the final UK Wasp produced.
May 8, 1979 Deployment departed HMNB Portsmouth as escort to HMS Norfolk, Flagship of Task Group 317.8 for 7 month Indian Ocean and Far East group deployment in company with HMS Achilles and HMS Arethusa, supported by RFA Black Rover, RFA Olmeda and RFA Regent. This group joined with the Devonport group of HMS Arrow and HMS Dido, returned to Portsmouth 14 Dec 1979.
