The Miller field was discovered c 135nm NE of Aberdeen in 1983 by BP, situated in the Viking Graben of the Central North Sea, in Upper Jurassic Brae Formation sands and shales.
It began production of oil and gas in Jun 1992. Oil was exported via Brae A and onward to the Forties Pipeline System; gas was collected from Brae B and together sent on to St Fergus and thence to Peterhead.
On 1 Apr 2009, during a flight returning to Aberdeen from the platform, Super Puma G-REDL (c/s Bond 85N) crashed with the loss of all souls, 11nm NE of Peterhead.
The platform was shutdown in Jul 2007 and decommissioning and removal of the 28200 ton topsides and most of the 18000 ton subsea jacket (leaving up to 20m standing above the sea floor) took place between Jan 2017 and Jul 2018.
