Owned and operated by Bristow, the AW189 was due to have entered service in 2015 but the full icing protection system (FIPS) certification was only granted on July 2016.
Starting in March 2017, Lee-on-Solent was the first base to operate the aircraft with scheduled fielding announced as follows: Prestwick, Lydd, St Athan and Inverness
