Airbus CityAirbus First Take-Off Helis, May 03, 2019 - Airbus and Siemens teams performed the first successful take-off of the CityAirbus demonstrator in Donauwörth.
The CityAirbus is an 2.2-tonne fully electric aircraft operating at 800 volts with four batteries. Was designed to carry four passengers and to envision future urban mobility.
This first tethered “jump” was conducted at Airbus’s facilities in Donauwörth, Germany and “This was meant to further assess the performance of the propulsion and flight control systems, as well as a few other data points,” an Airbus’ spokesperson said.
The demonstration program will now move to Manching, Germany, where the flight envelope opening will be carried out in a restricted airspace.
