PHI, December 18, 2023 - DALLAS, TEXAS - The PHI Air Medical base located in Dallas is proud to announce a significant milestone in its mission to move communities to health.
In partnership with Medical City Healthcare (MCH), PHI has successfully completed 100 ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) related transfers, marking a remarkable achievement in the field of critical care transport.
ECMO is a life-saving medical procedure that provides temporary heart and lung support to patients with severe respiratory and cardiac failure. Time is of the essence in these critical situations, and rapid, specialized transport is essential for patients in need of ECMO therapy.
As one of the first air medical providers to offer ECMO transfers in their fleet of Airbus H135 helicopters, PHI has been at the forefront of this vital service, ensuring patients receive the highest level of care during their journey to appropriate care.
This program has seen such prolonged success because of MCH’s ambition, the progressive medical direction of PHI, PHI’s relationship with MCH and other industry leaders, and the PHI crews’ tireless efforts and dedication.
The increasingly strong relationship between both teams and the continued commitment by all to maintain and grow the program have resulted in this noteworthy milestone of 100 ECMO transfers.
Jason Piecek, PHI base supervisor said “The relationship between MCH, the MCH ECMO and Specialty Transport Teams, and PHI is like no other in the air medical industry. It still amazes me to see what we have accomplished, and I know there are more great achievements still to come. I can’t wait to see what’s next!”
PHI’s commitment to safety, quality, and innovation has made it a trusted partner for hospitals and healthcare facilities across Dallas. It continues to invest in the latest medical technology and ensure their its goes above and beyond in training to remain at the forefront of air medical transport services.
PHI extends its gratitude to medical professionals and Medical City Healthcare who have entrusted them with these critical patient transfers. PHI looks forward to continuing to provide life-saving ECMO transport services to those in need.
