Honeywell and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in joint development of integrated navigation system to eliminate Global Positioning System (GPS) jamming or other signal interference

Honeywell, May 29, 2018 - PHOENIX – Honeywell and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have signed a teaming agreement to propose a jointly developed integrated navigation system to eliminate Global Positioning System (GPS) jamming or other signal interference.

Upon successful development, IAI’s anti-jamming system, which protects avionics from jamming threats, will be integrated into Honeywell’s Embedded Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation System (EGI).

Military operations are highly dependent on the consistent availability and accuracy of satellite-based technology systems. Despite this dependency, a number of platforms do not use anti-jamming technology to effectively protect these essential systems. Without this protection, even low-power jammers can disrupt or disable global navigation satellite systems.

“With an increasing range of GPS-based military devices and systems comes the subsequent need for enhanced protection and multiple redundancies to prevent proliferating jamming threats,” said Carl Esposito, president, Electronic Solutions, Honeywell Aerospace. “Honeywell’s deep expertise in navigation technology, in conjunction with IAI’s ability to tackle unique security challenges with cutting-edge solutions, enables us to keep our customers’ critical navigation systems protected and operational — even in remote locations or harsh environments.”

“We’re excited to work with Honeywell, a leading company in navigation systems and avionics. This collaboration brings together the operational experience, as well as the manufacturing and technology excellence, of two leading companies,” said Joseph Weiss, president and CEO, IAI. “Based on the everyday experience, gathered by working tightly with war fighters worldwide, the joint product will provide the end users with the required features to optimize the operational capabilities of their assets. The agreement strengthens the relations between the two companies, who see the flourishing market and the potential of the growing business.”
