Russian Helicopters Launches Production of Ka-226T
Russian Helicopters, June 08, 2018 - Ulan-Ude - As part of the Ka-226T light multi-purpose helicopter project, the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (UUAZ) of the Russian Helicopters holding company (part of the Rostec State Corporation) has launched production of prototypes aircraft.

In accordance with the plan, the company will manufacture three helicopters, two fuselages, as well as units that will be used for testing.

At the moment, UUAZ has completed the first stage of the production of the Ka-226T, completing the restructuration of the plant for the assembly of the new helicopters. The company developed a layout for placing the helicopter assembly line within the factory and the documentation for manufacturing of the tooling needed.

According planning, in June 2018 the first items will be produced for blanking, stamping and mechanich-assembly production.

"The project is being implemented accordance with the plan. In the near future, time of delivery to Kamov for testing will be announced. In addition, within the framework of cooperation of the holding's companies, we decided to make some parts of the helicopter at the Kumertau Aircraft Manufacturing Plant", said general director of Russian Helicopters Andrei Boginsky.

The light multi-purpose helicopter Ka-226T with its two coaxial scheme has a maximum take-off weight of 3.6 tons and is capable of carrying up to 1 ton of payload. The helicopter is equipped with a passengers cabin which allows transportation of up to 6 people or modules equipped with special equipment. The improved flight performance of the Ka-226T, its environmental friendliness, economy, modern avionics and additional solutions in the field of flight safety make this helicopter one of the best in its class.

The Ka-226T was the first Russian helicopter completely designed in digital manner without the use of paper. This allowed to reduce the risks and costs both for the development of the helicopter itself and for making changes in the subsequent modernization of the machine.

About UUAZ: For 75 years of existence, Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant built more than 8 thousand aircraft. The plant currently specializes in the manufacture of MI-8AMT (exported as Mi-171) and MI-171Sh helicopters
