Rostec, August 25, 2020 - The Russian Helicopters holding, part of Rostec, for the first time presented the upgraded Mi-171SH Storm military transport helicopter at the Army-2020 international military-technical forum.

The helicopter, featuring enhanced protection and unique strike capabilities, was manufactured at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant.

The first flight prototype of helicopter is on display at the forum. In addition, a flight and navigation equipment IBKV-17VP "glass cockpit" station and a model of the sighting station are presented as part of a single exposition.

“The updated Mi-171SH provides the highest level of protection for the crew and the landing force thanks to titanium and Kevlar armor protection, and the aircraft's strike capabilities have been expanded due to guided missile weapons,” said Russian Helicopters CEO Andrey Boginsky.

The Mi-171SH is ready for the most difficult combat in any climatic conditions, which is why, with an eye on our foreign customers, we chose the name "Storm" for it, which, on the one hand, symbolizes its readiness to fight the elements, and on the other hand, it speaks of wide assault the capabilities of the helicopter ”.

The Mi-171SH "Storm" helicopter is equipped with "high-altitude" engines of increased power, a new carrier system, including composite rotor blades with an improved profile and an X-shaped tail rotor, as well as the latest version of the President-S airborne defense complex.

Armor protects not only the crew and the most important parts of the helicopter, but also the landing in the cargo compartment. Two sliding doors on the sides and a ramp in the stern enable ultra-fast disembarkation.

In addition, the helicopter is equipped with an improved armament system, including 12.7 mm machine guns and the latest guided missile armament with the OPS-24N-1L surveillance and sighting system, which makes it possible to combat various ground and air targets.
