Heli-One Renews Maintenance Contract for Norwegian AW101s


CHC MRO provider Heli-One has renewed its support contract through 2030 at its Stavanger, Norway facility for the Royal Norwegian Air Force’s fleet of 16 Leonardo AW101 SAR Queen search-and-rescue helicopters.

Heli-One has been providing maintenance,repair and overhaul (MRO) support for the RNoAF SAR Queen fleet since 2023.

The SAR Queen fleet delivers a critical search-and-rescue and medical evacuation capability supporting North Sea offshore oil and gas operations.

Heli-One, December 15, 2025 - Norway - Heli-One, a global leader in helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, today announced Leonardo has extended and expanded its support contract for the Norwegian All-Weather Search and Rescue Helicopter (NAWSARH) program.

Under the agreement, Heli-One will continue to deliver MRO services with Leonardo through 2030 for the fleet of AW101 SAR Queen helicopters operated by the Royal Norwegian Air Force. The contract ensures the aircraft’s continued mission readiness to perform lifesaving operations in one of the world’s harshest environments. 

With all 16 helicopters now fully delivered and stationed at bases across the country, the program is a benchmark for collaboration between government, OEM and MRO partners.

The contract keeps Heli-One’s highly skilled Norwegian maintenance specialists working with Leonardo staff, embedded at Royal Norwegian Air Force bases. There they perform maintenance and ensure the fleet’s 24/7 availability.
