Batallon Helicopteros de Ataque 1 of FAMET was established january 1980 at Colmenar Viejo. Initial training flights made with 2 former german Bo105s (S.327 & S.359) receiving their first Bo105 (ET-138) by September and handling the Hueys back to BHELTRA V. On April 26, 1983 the unit finished moving to their new built base at Almagro.
On july 1999, the unit received their first Huey HU.10 (ET-261) and in 2007 began fielding the Tigre
