The Tokyo Fire Department started using helicopters in 1967 with an Alouette III. Since then, the agency has maintained a steadfast partnership with Aerospatiale/Eurocopter/Airbus. In the new century, it added AgustaWestland/Leonardo AW139 and AW189 helicopters.
As of 2025, it operates a fleet that includes three H225 and three AS365.
