The sole attack helicopter unit of the Argentine Army used Agusta A109 and UH-1 gunships from Campo de Mayo since the 1970s. In 1995, the United States approved the transfer of 12 ex US Army AH-1F Cobras but the operation was cancelled by the Argentine government. The A109s were phased out during 2010 intended to been replaced by former Italian Carabinieri AgustaBell AB-206
