1982-jun-18DeploymentDeployment South Atlantic departed HMNB Portsmouth for South Atlantic, in company with HMS Birmingham, HMS Apollo, HMS Bacchante and RFA Olwen, to patrol the post-war Falklands TEZ, returning to Portsmouth 17 Oct.
1983-jan-19Port VisitPort Visit DE Hamburg Port visit to Hamburg for 6 days, until 24 Jan.
1983-apr-27DeploymentDeployment South Atlantic departed HMNB Portsmouth for South Atlantic to patrol the Falklands TEZ, returning to Portsmouth mid Sep.
1984 Accident collided with a navigation buoy around the Shambles, off Portland, resulting in damage requiring alongside repairs.
1985-aug-13 HMS Southampton(D90) visited Portsmouth, New Hampshire from August 13-21, 1985. From October 1985 until March 1986, it travelled to and from the Falkland s on patrol.
1986-junAircraftAircraft 202 Flt assigned Lynx ZD257 as 815 Sq/334-SN ships flt until c Apr 1988.
1986-aug-07DeploymentDeployment Armilla Patrol relieved from Armilla Patrol on station by HMS Syclla.
1988-sep-03DeploymentDeployment Strait of Hormuz (SN) Collision Armilla Patrol Armilla Patrol with Task Group 321.1 during Iran/Iraq war, escorting British shipping. In collision with mv Tor Bay in Straits of Hormuz, damaging both vessels. Assisted to recovery by RFA Diligence which was forward based at the time. (Relieved on patrol by HMS Boxer).
1989RefitRefit A and P Tyneside Repaired returned to UK aboard a heavy lift ship to Swan Hunter repair yard on Tyneside (now A & P). Completed by May 1992.
1993-aug-31AircraftAircraft 229 Flt assigned Lynx XZ228 as 815 Sq/334-SN ships flt until c Nov 1994.
1995-janAircraftAircraft 229 Flt assigned Lynx ZD257 again, as 815 Sq/334-SN ships flt until c Sep 1996.
1995-julDeploymentDeployment MS off Plymouth, MS assisted in evacuation of Plymouth, Montserrat when Mount Soufriere began a series of eruptions.
1995-aug-19DeploymentDeployment MS off Plymouth, MS Operation Harlech returned to Montserrat in response to further eruptions for a relief and evacuation mission.
1996-octAircraftAircraft 229 Flt assigned Lynx XZ229 as 815 Sq/334-SN ships flt until c Jun 1997.
1998-janRefitRefit until May 1999 at Babcock, Rosyth.
2000DeploymentDeployment South Atlantic Atlantic Patrol Task (South) Atlantic Patrol Task (South), deployed around Falkland Islands between Feb 2000 and May 2000, relieving HMS Somerset.
2005-junAircraftAircraft 208 Flt assigned Lynx XZ694 as 815 Sq/334-SN ships flt until c Feb 2007.
2005-aug-21DeploymentDeployment South Atlantic Atlantic Patrol Task (South) departed HMNB Portsmouth for 6 month Atlantic Patrol Task (South) deployment. Operated around Falkland Islands between Sep 2005 and Jan 2006, relieving HMS Portland. Returned via Caribbean.
2006-oct-11DeploymentDeployment SL Freetown Port Sierra Leone Operation Vela (Green Eagle) conduct of Exercise Green Eagle phase of Operation Vela, off Sierra Leone
2007-aprDeploymentDeployment South Atlantic Atlantic Patrol Task (South) departed HMNB Portsmouth for 8 month Atlantic Patrol Task (South) mission. On station from Jul until relieved by HMS Nottingham. Returned to HMNB Portsmouth on 14 Dec 2007.
