Balder is an oil field with minor gas, discovered in 1967. The reservoir is primarily the Heimdal and Hermod Formations at a depth of c 1.7km. It began production in Oct 1999. Balder also acts as an FPSO hub for the Ringhorne and Ringhorne Øst fields.
