In May 2014, Sikorsky proposal VH-92 was selected as the future Marine One helicopter to transport the President of the United States. The decision follows the cancellation of the first winner of the VXX competition, the AgustaWestland VH-71 Kestrel.
First flight of a converted S-92 airframe took place in June 2015.
The 23th and last VH-92A Patriot was delivered in August 2024 which includes 2 test aircraft and 21 operational helicopters.
