Variously, a subordinate Flight within an AAC Squadron, latterly its existence was as an Independent Flight. Formed at Noble Field, Kuala Lumpur in 1958 as part of 656 Squadron (there does not appear to have been a 1916 Flight preceding it), it disbanded on 31 Mar 1962, to reform the next day as a Flight within 653 Squadron in Aden.
It moved to Malaysia in Sep 1962 and was still at Kuching in Sep 1964, when it transferred its Skeeters and became the Air Troop of 4 RTR (at Seremban on 1 Oct 1964) - which itself disbanded in 1966.
Reformed in Oct 1969 as an independent 16 Flight (from the Infantry Air Platoon Cyprus) with Sioux AH.1 at Dhekelia. After the first of 4 Alouette II returned on 10 Oct 1977 (following its absence since Jun 1962), the Sioux were finally swapped for Alouette in 1978. In Nov 1988, the 4 Alouette were replaced by 3 Gazelle AH.1. 16 Flight disbanded in Cyprus on 31 Mar 2003.
