Established 1982, the 82° Centro Combat/SAR ( 82nd Combat Search and Rescue Group) is part of the 15 Stormo ( 15 Wing ) based at Trapani-Birgi. In peacetime they provide medical evacuation (MedEvac) on behalf civilian requests.

In 2018, 82 Centro signed agreement with the Sicily civilian authorities to provide aerial support to firefighters with their HH-139A fitted with 1000 lts Bambi Bucket
