Uni-Flys involvement in the UK offshore energy sector began around 2014, with the company operating from Humberside Airport, supporting UK wind farms while still registered as a Danish entity. Following the UKs departure from the European Union, and the subsequent regulatory changes, Uni-Fly established UNI-FLY HeliWorx UK Ltd.
Uni-Fly itself was founded in 1970 in Denmark providing helicopter support for offshore wind farms since 2001 .
in 2021 to ensure continued compliance and operational capability within the UK. The company has since continued to expand its UK operations, particularly in the period spanning 2023 and 2024. This expansion has included the increased utilization of Leonardo AW169 helicopters, with operations observed from Dundee Airport in late 2023 for wind farm support, and the signing of lease agreements for additional helicopters to increase capacity.
Additionally, in late march of 2024, Uni-Fly expanded its operations to include oil and gas support, moving aircraft from its UK base at Humberside to Jerez Airport in Spain.
