Jan 11, 1966 Deployment departed HMNB Devonport for Far East deployment, returning 28 Jul 1966.
Mar 1966 Deployment Mozambique Channel off Mozambique to enforce UN sanctions against Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). Intercepted the Joanna V (Greek registered) oil tanker during Apr. Beira Beira Patrol

Apr 2, 1982 Deployment Ordered to South Atlantic from exercise as part of the Advanced Group. Key role in South Georgia operations. Seriously damaged in air attack on 8 Jun 1982. 1989 Fate: museum Trinity Pier Warship Preservation Trust at Millbay, Plymouth with Wasp HAS.1 XS570 aboard (from Lee-on-Solent c Feb 1990).
Jun 1990 Fate: museum Transferred to the River Clyde for Glasgow 1990 celebrations.
Nov 1991 Fate: museum Birkenhead Transferred to Cammell Laird for maintenance and repairs until Spring 1992
Apr 1992 Fate: museum Transferred to East Float Dock, Birkenhead for public display (opened May 1992) until Feb 2006.
Feb 6, 2006 Fate: museum Vittoria Dock Warship Preservation Trust collapsed. Future of HMS Plymouth (still at Birkenhead) uncertain.
Mar 2012 Fate: scrapped Sold by Peel Ports to a Turkish ship breaker. Left Birkenhead East Float Dock under tow by mv Amber II, on 20 Aug 2014
