
Delivered between 1995 and mid 1998,
the Bell 412CF is a modification of the 412HP civilian version,
with a unique avionics fit and a heavy duty cabin heater for cold weather operations.
The CH-146 Griffon replaced the CH-118 Iroquois,
CH-135 Twin Huey and
the CH-136 Kiowa fleet.
Canadian Griffons were built in Mirabel, Quebec.
CH-146 Griffon upgrade
In January 2019 was launched the Griffon Limited Life-Extension (GLLE) to upgrade the 85 Griffons still in service in order to extend the life of the helicopters to at least 2031.
In February 2021, the first (#467) of 3 CH-146 was delivered to Bell Canada to be used as prototypes with the goal of start fleet modification in 2023.
In December 2022, a contract was awarded to upgrade 85 helicopters. Work to be done by Heli-One and Alpine Aerotech starting in May 2023
