Amalgamated with 15 Liaison Flight to form 653 Squadron in May 1958 and spent time in Cyprus, with the interim Alouette II in the early 1960s. When 653 Sq was withdrawn to Aden in 1961, the unit remained as 10 Independent Flight at Dhekelia.
Detached again (from 651 Sq) in Mar 1964 and assigned to 656 Sq. Sailed to Far East on HMS Bulwark with 5 Scout AH.1, arriving Apr 1964.
Kluang with 5 Scout Apr 1964, Brunei May 1964 with 5 Scout, to Long Pa Sia in Sungei Padas in SW Sabah (Jun-Aug 1964) with 5 Scout to support Central Brigade. Spent 1965 rotating between Brunei and Kluang in 3 month roulements with 11 Flt. Left Brunei 18 Sep 1966 for Malaysia. It had been in the Far East for 32 months, before leaving Singapore (Kluang - MY) for Salisbury Plain in Nov 1966 (or was it Jan 1967 ?).
