LISBON, Portugal — Avincis has been awarded a new nine-year contract to continue providing helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) in Stockholm, extending a partnership with Region Stockholm that began in 2001.
Under the agreement, Avincis will operate two five-bladed Airbus H145 helicopters. One aircraft will provide round-the-clock availability while the second will operate on a 12-hour daily schedule, ensuring rapid aeromedical response throughout Stockholm County.
Stockholm's HEMS programme is among the busiest in the Nordic region, completing between 3,500 and 4,500 missions annually while accumulating approximately 2,000 to 2,500 flight hours each year. The service supports emergency medical response across densely populated urban areas, forests, islands and the Stockholm archipelago, including ship-based incidents and other time-critical emergencies requiring rapid deployment.
John Boag, Group Chief Executive Officer of Avincis, “Avincis is honoured to continue serving the people of Stockholm with world-class helicopter emergency medical services. Our team has proudly supported this community for more than two decades, and this new contract reflects our commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and highly specialised aviation support when it matters most.”
According to Avincis, the renewed contract reinforces its commitment to maintaining high operational standards while supporting accessible emergency medical care throughout Stockholm County.
