The Bell Huey was the first mass-produced helicopter powered by a jet turbine. With its distinctive whomp-whomp sound that could be heard miles away, the UH/AH-1 aircraft have totaled more than 27 million flight hours since Oct. 20, 1956 when the granddaddy of all H-1's, the XH-40, made its first flight. Since then, more than 16,000 H-1 helicopters have been produced by Bell and its licensees -- making it the most successful military aircraft in aviation history

The Model 205 ( military version known as UH-1H ), compared to the 204, has a longer fuselage and a more powerful engine that gives better overall performance.

HUEY II 2005 Following the Bell 210 experience, the Bell Huey II upgrade kit combines commercial Bell 212 dynamic components with the reliable Honeywell T53-L-703 engine, leading to an increase in hover performance in hot conditions with an increase of the max gross weight to 10,500 lbs while lowering direct operating costs.
