HUS-1/UH-34D Seahorse was the utility version of the HSS-1/SH-34G Seabat with early bent leg / torsion bar undercarriage. Production began in 1955 and continued through 1968. Many HSS-1N/SH-34J converted to similar standard by removing ASW gear. Later production UH-34D (beginning with 58-1177) featured horizontal V leg undercarraige to reduce roll on landing.
