Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron SIX (HS-6) was established on 1 June 1956. 
Redesignated Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Six ( HSC-6 ) on July 2011
Embarked USS Oriskany off Vietnam, May-Dec 1971.
Completed a deployment - under the designation HS-6, and flying the Sikorsky SH-60F and HH-60H - aboard the USS Nimitz (CVN-68), 1Jan10 to 26Mar10. The area of operations was the Western Pacific and the Arabian Sea. HS-6 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 11 (CVW-11) - tailcode NH. The USS Nimitz was assigned to Carrier Strike Group 11 (CSG-11).
1976-1980, I served in HS six. They started out with SH Three Alpha. We took them on that cruise when we came back off that Westpac we bloomed to the mothball fleet. And we got SH3 hotels. We never had SH3 Delta
