The British contribution to expelling the Taliban from Afghanistan, securing and stablising the country, training its military and police forces and reconstruction, was carried out under Operation Herrick.
There have been a significant number of ground forces deployments, each of approximately 6 months requiring considerable logistic support. In the early stages of the operation, the deployment was supported by HMS Trafalgar, HMS Triumph and HMS Superb, from the Silent Service.
